25th annual juried student exhibition
april 12 - May 20, 2015
Silvermine’s popular student exhibition celebrates its 25th year this spring. A crowd of friends, family, and artists gathered on Sunday, April 12 for the opening of the 2015 Student Art Exhibition in the Silvermine Art Galleries. Beth Livensperger, who teaches painting and drawing at the School of Art + Design at Purchase College, SUNY, acted as juror for the annual event, which includes new work by students who have completed at least one term of study at the Silvermine School of Art.
A vibrant show with work from a variety of media, the student exhibition offers students, their families and the public a view of the fine art and creative energy that is generated by the student body. Awards are given in adult and youth categories and across a number of media from painting and drawing to ceramics, digital imaging, and metalwork. Juror Beth Livensperger lives and works in Queens, New York. She has exhibited in numerous locations nationally and internationally, including New York, Philadelphia, Providence, Santa Monica, and Seoul. She has been an Aldrich Museum Radius Fellow, and done residencies at the Weir Farm, Vermont Studio Center, and the Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts. In 2010-2011 she was an Artist-in-Residence at the Abrons Art Center in Manhattan. Livensperger is currently Visiting Assistant Professor of Painting and Drawing at SUNY Purchase. She holds a B.F.A. from the Cooper Union (2001) and an M.F.A. from the Yale University School of Art (2008). |
